crap sorry about sizing, click the bar and its easier to read.
Nice, looking forward to seeing one that someone has actually fitted to!
I presume the euro style hitch would not be legal here in the US? That way you'd only need a small cut in the centre underside of the diffuser to plug in the removable hitch.

Has anyone installed a hitch yet? I really want one for hauling my bikes. Really don't want a roof rack again. MY RS hasn't arrived yet, but curious if anyone has done it. I know there is a U Haul right by me that does custom hitches...

I've been eyeballing the one for the ST that places the receiver above their tailpipe. I think it might fit, with the receiver behind the diffuser. If no one makes something soon I'm going to order one to try. I actually emailed Torklift this past weekend to see if they're still planning to make one, per another thread on her, but haven't heard back.

As has been stated, the owners manual clearly states do not use this vehicle to tow, so go forward at your own risk

Hopefully...someone in Torklifts area will be the fitment test platform. A hitch is a must for me...

Regarding towing with a vehicle that the manufacturers says is not rated for it....no worries as long as it's a reasonable load. Small utility trailers, jet skis, track wheel trailers, hitch mount bike racks, etc..don't think anyone is proposing towing a 28' travel trailer with the RS. Plenty of Focus ST's, WRX'S etc...with a long history of towing.

Any traction on this? Has anyone dropped their RS off with Torklift to be used as a test mule?

Used for mounted Nittos and tools for my 2013 ST outings.

Had hitch designed and welded on (Eckharts in LA area), including hitch plug. (Above exhaust)

Fyi...trailer is tiny flatbed with TIRE RACK garage tire rack welded on, previously used for Mini JCW outings.

Opinion: My load runs less than 500# with zero impact. I think you could easily ruin something in the drive train if load was 2, or maybe only 1, jetski. (This is based on exerience I created overloading a RX300). 1 racing bike, even with toolbox, should be fine. A full dresser? Think twice!

I haven't bought an RS yet, as I have been awaiting patiently to see if it can accept a tow hitch receiver. The receiver is not necessarily for towing, but more for adding a bike rack, or if the family heads on a trip and we need to (typically) bring more crap than is necessary, or have to bring the dog in the back and no room for luggage, I could always use a hitch mounted cargo carrier. Yes, I could use one of the roof torpedo boxes but storing those things is a major PITA. Based on all the above, I'd prefer if I could get a 2" receiver on the back that allows more flexibility (no I don't want to buy a 1-1/4" to 2" receiver adapter).

From what I see, the best option would be to have a removable fascia at the diffuser with a hitch receiver behind it. It would have been perfect to have the diffuser with the Euro-fog light molded in but oh well, at least we get an RS this round. This would have been a no brainer in terms of aesthetics to just remove the knockout and put the receiver directly behind.

Another option is a hitch that runs at the lower face of the diffuser and plugs into 2 custom receivers that have smaller diameter holes. (See attached drawing).
The possible pros to this would be:
    1. help clearance issues, would protect the bumper
    2. act as a bumper guard for the maroons who don’t know how to parallel park behind your vehicle.
    3. Clearance from the ground for those that have to go up steep driveways, etc
    The cons I see are:
    1. additional expense because of material
    2. another thing to store when removing the hitch adapter
    3. aesthetically not as clean as alternative options

In a nutshell, someone needs to get their keester in gear an put a hitch receiverName: hitch sketch.jpg

I get email notices form Torklift, because I have one of their hidden hitch's on my Subie. Anyway, I fired off an email to them, mentioning that I (eventually) have an RS incoming, and am interested in a hitch. I got a phone call less than 10 minutes later... Their fabrication shop is located in Sumner, Washington, and all they need is for someone to allow them to do the fit up on their RS.

So, any local peeps interested in a hitch...or willing to "take one for the team"?
