    Quick SCCA Solo Tour question...
Am I required to show a 2017 rule book when I check-in (or maybe it's tech)?

I left mine at home and don't really want to waste an hour heading back to retrieve it.

    TIA!

I don't see why..., download it to your phone if they say you have to have a copy.

That's what I was thinking, but "back in the day" you needed one.

...along with a factory service manual in the event of a protest against you.

I'd recommend finding an FSM sometime (digital copy, so bring a laptop to run it...)

Nobody checks for the rule book anymore (at the four events I've done this year nobody checked or even mentioned it), you can easily access it from your phone.

I run on par with str in my BS car. I have 255 re71r which you may not but if you aren't within 3 seconds of your Miata times I would consider the day a failure. Call it 2 seconds behind your Miata if you are on stock rs tires.

    Your local str sucks

My str miata is easily faster than my bs rs, raw or pax. Driving both back to back on the same course the miata is capable of things that are flat out impossible in the rs.

Granted the miata is a legit str build with penske doubles and the rs is front bar, janky alignment and wheels/tires.

Im ****ty, but the local venue gleb drives at is silly deep with national talent. When the right people show up there is a very good basis for comparision. Str in particular is very deep.

The rs is a ton of fun, but it is not dominant.

My STX BRZ was faster than my RS in every way other than straight line.

This may be totally accurate since we have 2 cars in str but both are decent drivers. However they are miatas and not s2000s. And one of our absolute best drivers is an sts miata and I need a power course to have a chance to keep with him. Small clubs probably don't provide the best feedback.

I still don't think 3 seconds back is is close enough. Of course there are too many variables to figure it out without being there.
