TireRack....kinda frustrating. I ordered my wheels and tires today. I got the call saying there was going to be a delay due to lack of stock. No worries. Then I get another call, they will not put 255's on a 8" wheel. I pressed they guy. He said it will be denied. I advised I know of other autocrossers who have purchased wheels and tires with no problem. He says the wheels are .5" too narrow. I told him to cancel my order and I will figure out a different solution.

5 minutes later....I get a call, "Well if you tell me you are going to only use the wheels and tires for autocross or competition then we will do it." I told him that was the plan all along. So now I should have wheels and tires for one event before the double Champ Tour and Match Tour in Bristol, TN.

Now to figure out an alignment and get a big front bar.

here is an aftermarket version of the OEM part, while I hunt for the OEM part number (put a call into my Ford service manager and he's getting back to me with the #)

That's not legal, it's adjustable. The OEM option is literally just a different fixed length, but I don't see it available on the Ford parts site.

Sorry, I've been too busy all week to post. Had a great time in NJ, it was nice to finally meet DocWalt and Donour. Hopefully I'll get into the Toledo Pro (still on the wait list).

Here's the unedited external video from Saturday evening:

Not in the RS but last week's run in the GT350...I had the car about a week at this point and this was the first time I drove it with any gusto lol. It was a lot of fun, even when this happened....That said, this is an entirely different kind of car to negotiate, and the first high HP RWD var I have autocrossed in at least 8 years or more...Lots to learn here...

I took a new set of 255/35/18 to be mounted last monday morning hoping to get them back before I left on a work trip that afternoon. They called me saying it wouldn't be done in time and that was fine I just let them keep my rims and tires until friday. The owner of the shop stayed late into the night to mount them Thursday night and when I went to pick them up he said "don't ever bring me these again" in a dead serious tone.

I'm afraid I will run out of tire shops willing to mount these for me!

You really need to make a friend in the business. I've got a fellow autoX buddy that owns a taxi repair shop. He mounts all my stuff, flips my tires. For $20. So ya he does the impossible and doesn't charge anything.

due to this, and a tire shop scratching the crap out of my rim once, I went out and bought my own tire machine and balancer. problem solved. its obviously not for everyone, but maybe you can get some friends can go in on one together.

Having worked in the garage for years I wish this was an option for me, I could even make some side money on it, but not at this time, have other goals. But at least my daughter works at Ford so they have been good about the race wheels, had them flipped and balanced there and no complaints.

Picked up the car wed barely used but broken in and post 1k mile oil change.

Ran both days this weekend. Garage floor alignment tweaks, bstreet wheels, old 265/35/18 re71 that corded by end of weekend.

Added fsb for sunday. This car is awesome, going to be a ton of fun.

Any details on bs legal baller struts? If anything thats the worst part of this car.

Okay, so really scratching my head regarding my 71R tire pressures... could use some additional thought from the solo braintrust here.

Running 245/40/18. I'm starting pressures cold at 38 front, 37 rear and chalking tires between laps to see roll over. At this point, I almost never touch to the tires because the chalk seems to go right to the triangle mark on the 71R, and stay there despite the tire gaining heat from lap to lap. By lap 3, I'm ~43 hot in front and ~40-41 in rear. If anything too, I could increase front pressures to stay more in-line with the triangle mark up front.

I'm confused because it sounds like most people on these tires are significantly lower than me in pressures (say 33-38 psi hot). Are people allowing rollover beyond the triangle mark... do I have a unicorn batch of 71R... or am I driving weird?

Edit: Track mode, sport suspension, all nannies off in every run.
