"Drive mode selection not available" message when changing to stiffer shock setting

    Hi Guys,

I picked up my RS yesterday. So far it seems to be great and I don't have any of the issues that others have reported here. However, I do have one thing going on that I haven't seen mentioned. When I try to change into the Sport shock setting directly or when I change the drive mode to Track, which is the only one that changes the shocks to the sport setting, the dash screen will show the new mode for a second, then I get a warning message saying "Drive mode selection not available" and it changes me back into normal mode. I can change into Sport or Drift modes without issue.

When I first noticed this the car had less than 50 miles so I thought it might be related to transport mode. I disconnected the battery for a bit, but that didn't affect it. I then waited until I had over 50 miles and re-started the car with no change. Has anyone seen this?

    Thanks.

Sounds like a controller error w/ the shock system.

You need to make sure the shock wires are plugged in. We removed the shocks to measure for coilovers and didn't get the right rear plug 100% in. Pulled the shock off today and made sure it was fully connected. Buttoned everything back up and track mode was engaged!!!

Good info, thanks. That's what I was thinking to check before heading to the dealer. From the pics of the shocks out of the car, it looks like the connector is on a short lead out of the top. Can the rears be accessed from the rectangular access plugs in the hatch area?

I just poked around a bit and I found the connectors for the rears right under the access panels in the hatch and the passenger side front mounted to the inside of the shock tower. Those three all seem to be properly seated. Without removing anything other than the cowl grill, I can't see where the drivers side front cable goes, or the connector. @ToddE - do you know off hand where that front-left connector is? Thanks.

The dealer diagnosed this as being a crimped wire at the connection of the front left shock. The replacement arrived in a couple days and I'm 100% now.

I must say, from the descriptions I expected the stiffer shock setting to be hard as a rock. I just did a drive across town including some roads that were punishing in my Elise with the Lotus Sport suspension and it was fine. Stiffer but not harsh. Definitely improves turn-in.
