The RCM is seeing a open circuit if AB is disconnected.
The typical threshold minimum circuit resistance the RCM is looking for from the AB is ~2.5 ohms.
We use a surrogate 2.5 ohm resistor to troubleshoot AB faults/MIL. Connect resistor ONLY to the HARNESS (vehicle side), NEVER TO THE AIRBAG.

NEVER ATTACH or PROBE with an OHMMETER, the AIRBAG!

i think airbag light is okay, i think it's the passenger weight limit that is triggering the airbag fault?

You can easily switch off your side airbags by OBD using free app forscan.org
Moreover, you can switch off auto start / stop system, way of how the doors are locking , tire pressure system and much more.

I can help you to buy and ship Recaro buckets if you want to. For example set of rear and front seats in very good condition (from 10K miles crashed car) cost around 3000$. Total price, shipment and lowering kit included, should be around 4000$.

Is it actually possible to set off the airbag with the meter? I mean the current is so low. I tried looking on Google for it ever happening and found the opposite:

Interesting... willing to sell just the front buckets?

Also, I assume if you switch off the airbags, it solves the problem of the light, but it means the airbags will not deploy. Has anyone figured out how to keep the airbag deployment (including the passenger airbag with the weight sensor) when switching seats?

but you can switch off only side airbags (side = those in seats). In other words you can inform your car that you have seats without airbags.

Used, but in very good condition, front buckets cost around 1000$ each.

So this means there would be no airbag light and the front airbags would still deploy in the event of a crash?

What about the passenger weight sensor?

I'm going to get an OBII Reader, disconnect my seat, and see what I can do. If it works, I'll take the seats.

@TomekRST can you point us to a tutorial on how to use ForScan to disable the side airbag?

    Thank you!
