You basically keep the same size "footprint" & only go up 3/10" of inch in diameter [Cup2 OD is 25.5"] [Continental DWS 245/35R19 OD is 25.8]

    .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ................................

I did the exact same thing when I brought my RS home except I went with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 in 245/35R19

    Here's a side-by-side pic of the 235/35R19 Cup2 tire next to A/S-3 245/35R19 tire for reference

Thanks, that definitely helps. This might sound dumb, but what justifies getting a 245 vs a 235 tire?

This is slightly off-topic, but I could use some suggestions/advice on tires. I mentioned that I'll be replacing the Cup 2's with Continental Extreme Contact DWS06's on the forged 19" rims. I live up near Seattle and our winters are typically rainy and somewhere between 30-50F. Does this seem like a smart idea? I would consider selling the Cup 2's, as I'm currently more concerned with daily driving rather than track performance, but I can't decide. It seems like the general consensus is to buy a second set of 18's with winter tires (Alpin PA4).
I lived in Seattle for 1 year. That winter was tough. The DWS06 will work, it's what I use for winter tires but I'm in the South. In the PNW I'd use the dedicated winter tire. Myself I sold the 19's. I think they are a poor choice for the car. I went to 18's for both winter and summer tires. Car rides a lot better, more sidewall, and safer for pot holes and road irregularities. The Ford OEM forged or cast wheels are heavy (27 lbs cast, 25 lbs forged). My 18's are 20 lbs each (I have two sets) and they ran me around $180 each.

If you don't want to deal with a second set of wheels I'd buy DWS06's, in 235/40/18, pick a set of 18" wheels for them, and sell the stock wheels and the Cups.
Don't worry, scrote. There are plenty of 'tards out there living really kick-ass lives. My first wife was 'tarded. She's a pilot now.

Yep, I have two sets of those. So very useful.

    The 235/35r19 Cup2 tire's "footprint" is an over-sized 235 tire compared to a traditional 235/35r19 tire.

My experience with various performance types & tire sizes in general,

I research the original tire size and what I want for my ride & suits my driving.... This is a performance car....

I want ideal grip & looking at the numbers I had to "plus-size" [the footprint] when it came to an all-season tire

I took the road less traveled, and that has made all the difference.

When I bought my RS they hadn't mounted the winter tires to the winter rims, so I drove 800 miles home with 4 tires and 4 rims, all separate, and my bag and a few other items.

    You'll be fine.

    Re: winter tires,

I bought General Altimax RT43. They are an all season tire, so you don’t need to worry about decreased grip when it warms up. On the other hand, they have better snow performance than most “performance winter” tires. Finally, they cost me about $115 per tire.

I posted the data here if you are curious:
