Last night I siliconed the interior of the vent cut to clean things up and seal it.
I am also going to run a tiny bead on the top of the vent circumference on the hood and seal it well from that side.

I was also able to cut the liner cleanly using my template again.

I have a few ideas on how to finish the liner more permanently, but for now I just kind of used black racing tape to seal off the foam.

I'd never have the guts to do it.....but they look fantastic! Great job and quite distinctive.

Nice work mate! I love my Maxton vents.

I did away with the sound deadened under the bonnet and made some panels to divert any rain or water away in the winter months. To fix them in place I drilled a couple of Rivnuts into the bonnet bracing and used some nice alloy cup head bolts just long enough so as not to dent the outside of the bonnet. I cut mine from 4mm aluminium composite panel but alloy sheet would work too.
    Just another idea maybe!

I love the vents painted body color! Gives a nice subtle appearance, yet aggressive.

Looks professional, but What is the danger of rain landing on the engine? I wouldn’t think its much different than washing the engine or driving through a puddle?

    It’s not.

I removed my TMIC on the GD STi and drove with an open giant hood scoop directly on top of the engine for 25K miles zero issues. The undertray is not a water barrier, these engine compartments are meant to be exposed to the elements to some degree.

One of the vents is over the open top airbox. If my car was parked out in the rain all day, the airfilter would be waterlogged for sure. The covers are just a failsafe against the chance of the engine sucking it in I guess.
