    I don't think I could ever remove the insulation. I don't want more injector tick, or other other engine noise. I want more intake noise which can be obtained by a CAI and will make me happy enough.

    I wish I had the insulation on my TransAm hood. But the car is 30 years old now, and the reproduction stuff just doesn't fit right.

    Good point. I thought about doing a CAI but I don't want to spend any more money on the car..... we'll see I guess.

    I had both an after market air filter (Mountune/Green filter) and took off the insulation for a weekend. If definitely gave me a lot more of the noise, both the good wooshing and recirc valve "psssh" (I have a Mountune one too) but also the bad ie the DI pump ticking, tuning fork whistle, etc. I ended up putting the insulation back on (fortunately the clips that hold them on are easy to take off/put back on) and installed the sound suppression chamber...which is a whole nother ordeal (let's just say I am not a proud owner of half a dozen little circlip tools lol)
