Question Anyone else see alot of RS's sitting on lots?

I live in the metro Detroit area and have seen 12-15 RS's in multiple specs, colors, etc, sitting on the lot.
Some of them for the past 2-3 months.

    Has the excitement worn off?

I think its the markup. When I went to buy mine dealer wanted a 5k markup non-negotiable. The allocation is so little that as long as someone is willing to pay that within the year for the 2017 allocation they profit. They don't really have an incentive with a low volume vehicle to sell cheaper especially when they don't know when they'll get another one. I expect near the end of the year if no one buys it at the markup the price will come down because they don't want to hold 2017s in 2018.

Seems like it has died down a little which is normal. They are starting to be listed under MSRP in my area as many dealers have 5+ on the lot.

Two dealers around me have each and one (a SB and NB) sitting on their lots for awhile. Huge markup still, one of them is asking 10k over and both of those dealers are in towns where people are not paying for that. That's part of why I ended up ordering mine instead of taking one of those, so I imagine they'll be sitting awhile longer still.

It happens with a lot of cars when they are new to the market. That initial push of people who really want them, get them and production starts to catch up. I bought a 2017 R8 V10+ back in November. Nobody wanted to budge off MSRP. I wound up buying a lightly used with 2k mi. Now, i'm hearing 15-20k off is getting common.

My area has about 20 RS's on dealer lots within 25 miles of me. I'm genuinely interested in buying one, but the dealers are treating this like a Ferrari or something, so no test-drives, and they're being very evasive about pricing. They're not getting their $8k markups, that's for sure. This is very reminiscent of the Nissan GTR when it came out.

Yes, there are roughly 133 RS's within a 100 miles radius of where I live. Most of them are at MSRP now and say they will not go any lower "SVT does not offer incentives" is their new slogan.

This does not include the used ones that are also being sold. With the Type R about a month away, the Golf R refresh coming, and the STI still looming it blows my mind that some dealers still want MSRP or above.

Wont last. Dealers are stubborn. Great car, slim shady dealer network.

Hopefully this will keep them from making a 2018 however.
Don't worry, scrote. There are plenty of 'tards out there living really kick-ass lives. My first wife was 'tarded. She's a pilot now.
