It has been a long while since I last posted on this forum, but I had a question for you guys and gals.

I'm looking to get a 2018 RS with very low miles, but that has seen extensive track use. Car has a lot of maintenance records, but I worry about the damage done from tracking.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!
If I was you, I would get the VIN and pm @Hoonigan to see if there's any info he could help with

I doubt there is any damage at all. Car will be fine as long as the maintenance was done.

Even if the car had 20 track days and 30,000 miles that's nothing. Change the fluids and pads. Inspect the calipers, and tires, call it a day. If it drives fine, then its perfectly fine.

4 days and 6000 miles is nothing.

3-4 times at the track isn't really "extensive" IMHO. If the owner was good about replacing consumables/maintenance (rotors/pads/tires/fluids/etc), which it sounds like they were, I wouldn't cross the car off of my short list, ya know?

Did the owner specify what type of track duty the car actually saw? Any problems with the RDU overheating, etc ?

    G'luck deciding !

Did it ever get a tune? If not, the dealer may honor warranty claims. That might set your mind at ease.

Track use will accelerate wear, but it shouldn’t break things within the first 6000 miles.

I can PM the VIN to you if you'd like, but I think everything checks out. I was given all the service records, the Owner's kit, the framed picture with plaque, and a bunch of floor mats!

Thanks for the reply! It was maintained a lot. Like a lot a lot. I am switching out the pads, but not because they are shot. They are Ferodo Racing DS1.11s, and they aren't really made for street use. I'm swapping in some Mountune pads soon. The oil was just changed, and the brake fluid was swapped for (I believe) Castrol SRF or something similar. Tires and calipers seem to be fine. I brought it in for an inspection at a Ford dealer, and everything checked out.
