    Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

Father in law was in town this weekend, so we did what we do. Go look at cars...

Ended up at the local Alfa dealer (that also doubles as a McLaren and Maserati dealer) so I could look at the Quadrifoglio, and he could peak at the 600 LTs. No one cares about Maserati's. They are trash. Anyway.

Got a good test drive in the Quadrifoglio and it's definitely an amazing car. I had forgotten about it until re-watching the Grand Tour a few weeks back. Couple of short comings that take away from the practically of the car, however. Disappointed that the US isn't getting the manual version, but wow, the transmission is magic. BUT WE WANT MANUAL CARS! Rear seats do not fold down, so that's a non-starter for me being a cyclist who often puts his bike in the back of the car, or my snow board. Yea, I have a SeaSucker for the bike, but there's no way to lock the bike to the car and the stuff gets dirty. I also don't need to take such a monster up to the mountains to ski.

Getting in and out of the car was very easy while the ride was quite comfortable. Interesting seat setup where the backs have big side bolsters that hold you in place while hard cornering while the bottoms lack any meaningful bolsters making the car easy to get in/out of. I think Clarkson is just a very large, out of shape old man. :P

Being a 505hp RWD sedan, it doesn't exactly compare to a $30-40k AWD Focus RS, but still a great car. I'd probably still buy a used M3 Competition at around $40-45k over the $60k used Qudrifoglio if my RS was totaled tomorrow because of manual transmission, used car price, etc. But if I was in the market for a new $70k saloon and didn't want a MT, it would be a very tough choice.

I will say that going from either the M3 or the Quadrifoglio back the RS really demonstrates the value prop of the RS. 4/5ths the performance, but tremendously more usable and AWD with a much smaller price tag.

a good car to rent for a weekend but it seems like a nightmare to own long term. Hard to fall in love with your car if it's in the shop most of the time.

    I think it's actually a 7spd MT?!?! **EDIT** Nope, it's a 6spd. https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...want-it-to-be/

It doesn't snap, crackle and pop like an RS though. But wow, the noise this thing makes. I mean, it pretty much is a Ferrari, no?!
@Hankbobo The blue did not do the car justice. Maybe if it was red.

Love it. Either the red or the black or grey:

Bummer the carbon sparco seats aren't available with butt warmers. The car should also have a HUD.

I have the hots for a Stelvio quadrifoglio. My wife would drive it and it has a hatch, and more clearance. Better for road trips with our goofy weather.

When AR first announced they were going to bring these into the USA in 2017 ish, I placed a tentative order for a manual. A few months later the dealer told me AR had changed their minds and weren't going to import any manuals now.

Not sure if Canada has them but I asked the dealer to get one from there if possible. They weren't interested, so I bought an RS....

Got behind one of these the other day. Absolutely beautiful cars, and they sound great from the factory. It would be hard to justify spending that much money on one though. Just doesn't seem like something that would absolutely make me giddy every time I drove it. I guess that's all personal opinion
