How big do you like your tips?

I'm looking into exhaust options and wondering how you guys feel about different tip sizes from various manufacturers. The RS has 4.0" tips stock, but due to the thin wall and slash cut look bigger than, for example, Borla's 4.0". A 4.5" tip is a little harder to source. So I ask, what are your thoughts? Are 4" tips a deal breaker? Would you prefer 4.5"? Or even 5" tips?

    EDIT: Stock is 4"

    Borla 4"

    ETS 4.5"

    Mongoose 5"

I think 5" looks best. Fills up the gaps in the diffuser.

What size is the pipe from the cat/downpipe? Make the tip that size.
Take everything I post with an MDOT truckload of salt.

I could have sworn the stock RS exhaust was 2.75" to 3" tips

I'm not positive what the downpipe diameter is, but the stock tips are ~4.5"/115mm. The aftermarket catback they've made is 3". Now they're just trying to figure out the tips. They have their name laser etched in the tips like most companies and already use a 4" tip on other applications. Apparently their normal supplier doesn't have a 4.5" in the design they normally use so they're exploring a few other options.

If I was buying a new exhaust, 4" tips would be totally fine. Even if we all had 800 horsepower, more than dual 3" bore exhausts are totally unnecessary. Less exhaust is less weight and more room for an actually functional diffuser, too.

Yeah, the tips are purely aesthetic. When the Borla first came out I thought it didn't look right since the tips are only 4", but it is one of the better sounding exhausts IMO. That being said, I would prefer a 4.5" tip.

I think design might matter more than size, the 5" ones posted are hideous.

They're 4" at the most. Certainly not 4.5" on the stock exhaust. If I wasn't at work right now, I'd go out to my garage and confirm.
