    Missing truck light?

    Hi guys.
So I never thought twice about this until I saw a mates boot with both a left and right hand side trunk light, but mine only came from the factory with one . Who has one and who has two? I brought it up with my local Ford dealer and they said they would look into it for me. In the meantime, I pulled the trim away to find that there is a light plug in the loom but it was taped up from the factory. There is no cover where the light should be either.
Ford got back to me with the following...

"Unfortunately we have not been left with the best outcome following our enquiries into the missing tail light. It does look like the vehicle should have two lights but unfortunately I have nothing to indicate that it was missing at the time of its pre delivery inspection. This being the case I cannot claim for a replacement under warranty."

Wut?? "Nothing to indicate it was missing"??? It's not there. Thats a pretty good indication that it is missing to me! A mate who had his RS delivered here the same month also is missing his.
Do I take it further with Ford Australia? I know its only a small thing that can be ordered and sorted for about $50.00 but I don't think that's the point. It almost feels that they were running low on trunk lights at the factory that run so just went with one!?

Is there just an empty hole? The two of you, missing boot lamps, should both go and bring this up with the regional rep.
Take everything I post with an MDOT truckload of salt.

The dealers warranty statement is total BS. It is a build defect known in the industry as incorrect build of item short shipped. It is plain as the nose on your face that it wasn't fitted so they need to HTFU and get it sorted. The dealer just doesn't want the hassle from HQ and has fed you a line of the proverbial. Customer service at its poorest form.

Just remind them as the customer, how it is actually your fault that the light is not fitted and see what thier response is. If they don't address the issue advise that you are going to put it in writing to FA customer service. I can assure you that FA doesn't look favourably on dealers who score poor on customer surveys.

I am the mate missing the trunk light (no trucks here RS_Gav ). Our builds were about a week apart, so it is possible that they were short that week so only installed one in each car, or they were still hungover from Oktoberfest and had trouble counting past 0. Poor form either way!

Correct. There is an empty hole and the light plug was taped to the loom.

Exactly. It just seems like cost cutting to save a few bucks for the factory. Apparently the people that admin the Ford Australia FB page are quite active. I'll flick them a message in the morning.

John Hughes Steve. I was really surprised at their decision as they have been really helpful with other issues they have helped me with.

I'll check mine tonight, not really thought about it to be honest. I'm over Ford dealers, they only seem to want to take your money and provide a less than decent service. I've had several issues with my local dealership from day one. Got to the point where I canceled my order and got my car elsewhere. Recently they wanted to charge me 3 hours labour to fit a Mountune SSC and recirc valve and were more interested in telling me my warranty would be void even though these items do not affect the warranty in Europe (same car). I tried explaining I had already fitted the induction kit and Ford Europe quoted 90 minutes for the install. Needless to say I took it to a local experienced tuner, who fitted it for $75. Whilst on the ramp I noticed some surface rust on the drive shafts but no where as bad as the photos on this post. The only reason I can see for taking it to a Ford dealer is for them to carry out upgrades which they don't do anyway. The warranty should still be valid as long as servicing is carried out by a certified mechanic? Personally I don't want my car touched by a Ford dealership unless FA sort them out and make them realise without decent customer service they don't have a business.
