Make sure the tow hook is in the car (install it at the track)

Bring an extra qt of brake fluid and oil, just in case.

    Also, tire pressure gauge.
Got the tire pressure gauge and have been reading up on the cold/hot pressures to aim for form the other track threads. The organizers own an RS apparently so I will probably be depending on a lot of input from the instructor that DD's it. Going to take the RS to the dealer so they can fill out the Technical Inspection form and have that covered too.

I've taken note of the posts and added to the list:

    5) Tire Pressure Gauge

    6) Water, Shade, Cooler, Chair, etc.

    7) Tow Hook

    8) Extra Brake Fluid and Oil

    9) Point and Read Thermometer (if able to locate)

All pretty great advice! Especially the insight into how to cool the breaks and intercooler. Those things are what doesn't up until after you go through a track event or two. Thanks and keep it coming.

HD has a pretty nice thermometer for $40. I got one from Radio Shack years ago and I think I overpaid for it but it is a useful tool and fun to play with.

Before leaving the house, torque the lug nuts to be certain they are on correctly. Tire pump too, in case you're getting too much sidewall wear. Check oil level prior to departure and again around mid-day to be sure you're not burning any. Full tank of fuel to start the day, of course. Bring window cleaner and cloths, it's nice to have perfect visibility, I would do mine before we started, then again around lunch, then again prior to heading home.

Coming off the track, leave your engine running for a few minutes. This helps cool down the turbo and avoid heat soak. This from a Ford engineer.

If you are doing a HPDE event you will be running 6 to 8 twenty-minute sessions and will be going through a lot of fuel. If your track does not sell fuel on site you will need to bring a minimum of one extra can of gas, possibly two.
Also, like someone mentioned before DO NOT use your parking-brake after a track session as your hot brake pads can weld to the rotors. Park your car in-gear rather than using your brakes while you are waiting for your next session.

Well, it has been great input so far. Especially the pointers of how to take care of the car and let it cool down. That's great insight that might not be obvious to anyone who hasn't tracked a car before.

I've gotten most of the items on the list lined up but ran into a bit of a snag today with:

    2) Mechanical Inspection

The Ford Dealership mechanics were not willing to perform the Mechanical Inspection as a quick visual since in their minds it would make them liable. However the same form from Edge Addicts states that the driver is liable etc. etc. What was recommended was to perform the inspection per the form with one of ther Master Mechanics at $135 an hour (and leave the car all day). So now I turn to you again, does this make sense for a possible $1000 USD on inspection? The form is linked below, and I can see how it's a bit more involved than a typical multi-point-inspection done at the dealership. Since the car is new I'm kind of thinking it would be ok to have anyone just sign it and be done with it.

It would be good to do everything proper this first time around though, so that I can repeat it all for later events. Any advice? Or someone know a good mechanic in Houston that could handle something like this?
