Really? Darn it. Didn’t know you could do that. The whole seven months I’ve owned this car and the whole year I’ve owned the ST I always set it back manually. Curses! lol.

As to why Ford skipped out on this feature with Sync 3 is beyond me but I found a solution! Voice control over climate also works. Bonus! I stumbled upon this feature because of google. You need to use Forscan to access the APIM module (Do this at your own risk) and change the codes as follows:
7D0-01-02 xxxx x2xx xxxx
and 1 of the following:
7D0-01-01 xxxx xxx3 xxxx - Dual Zone & HD radio avail
7D0-01-01 xxxx xxx2 xxxx - Dual Zone & HD radio not avail

Tried this out on my 17’ RS2 and it works flawlessly!! I’m assuming it’ll work on all RS’s. All credit goes to the forum thread linked above.

What I love the most is that there’s a DUAL on/off toggle in there to sync temperatures. It drove me nuts that you’d have to manually sync it back if the passenger ever decided to change it. I know many people may think it’s redundant to have the manual and digital controls but hey! It’s a feature I’ve always wanted and I’m so glad that my curiosity caused me to stumble upon that thread. Of course, pics or it didn’t happen:

I’m trying to find out how to enable the TPMS display that shows actual tire pressures but had no luck yet. All the videos I found show how to do it on a Fusion but it’s not the same. If the Euro spec RS’s have it there must be a way to enable it! Will definitely not stop searching.

So will this work if you have the His/Her climate controls that sit in the middle of the centre console, under the sync screen, with the digital temp display.

 

Yes that is correct. I believe it still works if you have the manual controls also, like in an ST1 but some features won’t work properly. Not 100% on that. As long as you have the digital display all the features shown above should work.

 

Dont worry it took me 5 month to RTFM :-D At least it works on the Euro Models but should work on US Spec too.

 

 

Awesome! I know we can get more features in Sync 3 because they're all listed in the testing settings. It's just a matter of finding out how.

It’s fairly easy to do yourself. All you need is a windows computer or well I’m using a MacBook Pro with virtualbox running windows 10. And you need one of the OBD singles to connect to your car. I used this one from amazon:

So we can see that it works on Australian cars, but does it work on USDM ones?

 

USDM as in the American spec ones? I’m in Hawaii so wouldn’t mine be USDM spec’d?

Where is "Configuration and Programming" in FORScan? It is not in my version?

EDIT: I am using an Android phone. I found the beta version that has the configuration section but I don't have a laptop to take to the car to read the data.

 

I’m not sure how it is on the mobile version. I know on the computer version it’s the chip looking icon below the wrench.

 

Aloha @Rowwwel_808. Thanks for posting this! I'm not sure why these features weren't available from the factory either. My 2013 CR-Z had voice control for HVAC and it worked great.

I've not used FORScan before. It looks pretty straightforward though. Just to be sure, the steps are basically:

-Connect FORScan to the vehicle
-Access APIM Module configuration (AS BUILT format)
-Change 7D0-01-01 to xxxx xxx2 xxxx
-Change 7D0-01-02 to xxxx x2xx xxxx
-Click Write All
-Accept the changes

If you watch the video that was posted above, about the heated seat icons, it’ll show you which module you’ll be editing.

 

Things are good. I got a laptop and the extended version so I did a lot of module checking today. I had a couple of codes that I didn't know about. Nothing major and will get those fixed when car goes in fro FSA.
I saved a copy of all the modules "as built" to do some examination and comparison. Since mine is a '16 I noticed most modules have a newer version available. The next question is do I want the Ford tech to upgrade any, all or some of the modules. It would be nice if we could find out what changes were made in the new modules so we could decide if we want the upgrades. I would like to find a late '17 or '18 to do a comparison.

If someone has a late '17 or '18 that could post the "as built" data that would help. I am going to post on the FORscan forum to see if any RS owners can help out.

Still waiting for my extended license. What code did you change for TPMS display? I'd also be interested in changing others, such fogs on with high beams and turn signal tap count increase. These might be available in BdyCM Module configuration presets though.

I kept getting an error when trying to access the BCM to do the global windows, but I kept trying and after a few tries, it let me in.

 

Well, I reset everything and tried again. Still got the Service interrupted message but I noticed that the codes did change. I shut down the app and restart my car and the climate icon appeared. Took the car for a spin and everything works. Voice command for climate is for temperature only?? Thanks!

Yup that’s what I noticed. If you want the temperature to show up in the main display or at the home screen you can change this code as well;

I did it this morning and now when I change the temp or the fan speed it shows up on the screen!! Very cool.

 

Some more for you.

I will be numbering bits as such:
Example value:

Bit 1 is 1, Bit 2 is 0, Bit 3 is 1, etc.

I think these all should work on Focus RS.
7D0-01-02: xxAA xxxx xxxx -> Bit 1 of AA is ambient lighting menu. RS has this off, can turn on by setting to 1. (Most RS: 0xB8 -> 0xBA)
7D0-01-02: xxxx BBxx xxxx -> Bit 3 to BB to set the "Climate Mode Man" icon. Not sure what this does, would love to hear back from one of you (Most RS: 0x17 -> 0x1F)
7D0-01-02: xxxx BBxx xxxx -> Bit 2 is what this mode is really changing. This is the ONLY change you need for it. The other one is not necessary. This bit controls Climate Control type. 0 = Automatic, 1 = Manual. (Most RS: 0x17 -> 0x13). You should NOT change this to 12, you will mess up your Nav data if it started from 17.
For Climate Mode Man icon + Climate button try setting this to 0x1B

7D0-01-02: xxxx xxCC xxxx -> Bit 6 is "Climate Recirc Icon". Should add recirc to climate menu. (Most RS: 0x00 -> 0x40)
7D0-02-01: xxxx DDxx xxxx -> This should be 0C on all Focus RS. Change to 0D for a good time. Bonus points to anyone who catches what it does. (Assuming it works on the Focus RS APIM!)


As for the TPMS, if you mean the thing in the Instrument Cluster (I've never seen one show up on the big display), try this:
Module is IPC (720)
720-28-01: xxAA xxxx xx -> Set AA to 0xFF. This should enable all IPC features, so I think it'll add the TPMS menu for you. Let me know! If not I can try hunting it down.

This thread gets me thinking, how cool would it be to just replace your sync 3 software (overwrite) with some software you've written that does all the things you want and more. i.e, displays various telemetry data (temps, pressures, etc), gps data, all the other stuff sync 3 provides (except maybe you write it better so it runs faster), and.. I dunno you could do lots of cool stuff. Have a video players, support streaming from your phone, support sending various data to a server in case you want to analyze it later, the sky's the limit!

I'd love to start on a project like this but I don't even know what the entry point is and as far as I can tell from the little I've looked, noone is doing this kind of thing. I never see software mods for cars for example in the same way you see software mods in the PC world. Maybe its because there's not a lot of intersections between car guys and software guys. Car guys would know how to install the hardware but would have no idea how to code it, and software guys (like me) would know how to code it and no idea how to get into the hardware.

Anyway, those are just the crazy ideas this thread gave me

 

The last thread with anyone trying to break into Sync got taken down by Ford (It was on a Mustang forum). All that's left is the F150 guys trying to take a stab at modifications within the scope of Ford's boundaries, and Forscan forums.

Can we get a mod to move all of these Forscan mods to a new sub-category. (e.g. this, global windows, my headlight/fog fix, airbags, anything to do with forscan/IDS editing). Agreed. Looking to figure out how to disable FENG electronically (found threads for other ford vehicles, but did not work for mine), among other things. Possibilities seem endless as more comes to light.

Bought the OHP wifi elm 27 adapter from Amazon. Worked great and as it's wifi will work with iPhone apps too

So to combine the info above and for clarity these seem to be changes to make per this thread so far (the 0x is the posts is confusing and not applicable - so left out). Some didn't need to be added.

7D0-04-01: xxxx xxx1 xxxx -> (1 -> 0) this adds the set climate driver and passenger temps to the top bar on sync 3

7D0-02-01: xxxx xCxx xxxx -> (C -> D) this changed the sync 3 boot logo to Ford GT performance but the theme is ford-timeless (like the RS). Not the Ford GT full theme. I'll need to search for the code that changes permanently to the Ford GT theme.

720-28-01: xxAx xxxx xx -> (A -> F) this restarted the instrument cluster display and reset all the trip computer values (be warned!!) The sync 3 screen said setting language to English (US) after applying the change. Only added Navigstion Info setting to Settings ... Display (per screenshots above). When you set a navigation route the vehicle graphic in the instrument display changes to turn instructions. TPMS is not added.

Did not work for me.

Also I never saw any TPMS data either before or after making the above changes,

TPMS works great in Torque Pro along with RDU and PTU temperatures.

I agree with the previous posts that we should have a thread for (1)FORscan, (2)ODBIIAA, (3)TorquePro.

 

I think maybe the IPC change took away my quick links to poi categories and just left a see all button. Not sure why or how to get them back.
If someone is implementing these changes have a check of this screen after each and see when they go.

im from the netherlands and im new here ive got a focus wagon st line 2017 with sync 3 now i changed the values to show the climat on screen and changed the splash screen that all worked thanks for the good instructions but, my cars spoken language has turned into english so all the commands i have to give are in english but the language settings are still netherlands so are all the on screen buttons /text. can you someone tell me what i have to change in forscan to get the spoken and understanded language back into the netherlands?

i know i don't have an rs but i still hope you can help me

You don't say what changes you made exactly.
But if you changes the IPC module (Module IPC (as-built) 720-28-01), I noticed that resets sync 3 language to US English.
I would start by changing that one back to the way it was before.
Hope you saved all your as-built configurations of all modules first before changing anything - so you could restore it back to factory values.

 

Hi, i only changed the 7D0–01-02: xxxx x3xx xxxx for the climate and voice control temp and the 7D0-04-01: xxxx xxx0 xxxx for the temp on top of the screen. Plus the 7D0-02-01: xxxx xBxx xxxx for the st splash screen i dont think i changed anything in IPC module at least not that i know of.
