They change from 5/60 on powertrain to 3/36 correct?

Awesome, thanks for the info. I guess I'll wait for more information about this to release. If they could check all those boxes, I'd be interested.

Kind of but not really. Ford Performance warranties the actual parts and tune. 3/36. But, Ford continues to warranty your vehicle for whatever warranty you have in place. (5/60, extended, whatever)

The key is, dealers are not supposed to complain, or try to deny claims because of the performance upgrade.

At least that's how my dealer explained it to me, and how it seems to read on the FP web site...if anyone knows different please feel free to correct me...

Now, here's the curve ball...you can still go with a 3rd party tune, and make a powertrain warranty claim with Ford if you have a problem (just not for the aftermarket parts). If they deny your claim, under Magnuson-Moss, they have to prove the aftermarket parts were the cause of the problem.

The appeal of the FR package is it's supposed to be hassle free if you have a warranty claim.

I had FR on two other cars and it was great on both, but I never had a warranty claim, so can't speak to Ford's promises.

I would think you could get something in writing?

The idea of a "no hassle" tune is appealing... especially since I bought the ESP.

The ProCal with the tune and 4 Denso plugs cost me $450 and the dealership charged $150 to install everything.

Not to stir the pot, but had a web chat with Mountune yesterday. They are currently working on CARB certification for a package they will offer through Ford Performance. No hard time frame, but said as soon as April is a possibility.

If their RS package is same as it was on the ST, Ford essentially "sanctions" this in the same way they do with the ProCal. It will be interesting to see what sort of HP/TQ Mountune will make vs ProCal....and also what the fine print says as it relates to Ford's position on any warranty issues.

Total newb to Ford and how they manage their warranties, but I do have a related comment.

You can try to take on Ford with the Magnosen Morris act. But do you have the time, or a lawyer?

Ford has plenty of time, and plenty of lawyers. If Ford denies your claim because of aftermarket parts, sure they will have to prove whether the part caused the issue or not. But do you have time for that court case?

While your RS just sits there, unfixed? For weeks, maybe even months or years.

Me personally I do not have the time, or lawyers to fight that fight. I will wait a few years before I mod. I want to now, but I can not be the one to test the waters.

As this is my first Ford, or any domestic, I do see where you are coming from. This was a long time purchase for me. I will own this car for 10+ years so I'll sit back and wait on the Ford approved parts and tuning through Ford performance.
