Went in wanting to reserve one and the 'RS specialist" said that they will be selling 10k over ticket. He said some places are even selling 15k over ticket. So crazy. Im going to have to do a bit of shopping around.
with a bit of effort you should be able to find a car at MSRP but maybe a state or two away.
if you want the car, you can get it without paying too much
$10K is a bit on the high side, keep looking and you'll find something more suitable out there. Other option is to wait for a 2017 or step up for the even hotter FoRS being rumored to come out.
I think if people were on here a year before the vehicle was even scheduled to be produced they could get away without paying mark up haha. I'm sure in 2-3 months time that'll change greatly.
I think as long as they aren't scheduled, they can do it. That's how I got my allocation (made changes to dealer stock order to match my desired build).
Im not seeing favorable purchasing conditions for those whom have waited so long to secure one of these cars, especially now with the fever pitch of media and if they release a super rs I can only imagine it will be even more difficult to find an unspoken car. Best of luck to your search for an RS.
The first dealer I went to told me they were going to be charging a $15K dealer markup. The second dealer told me $7.5k and then i went back to the first dealer and they offered me one at $7K to beat the second dealers price. The third dealer told me they would sell me one at MSRP. I placed my order that day.
Truth of the matter is, SVT is right. MSRP people are going to tell folks they got it at MSRP. ADM people are not going to brag about how much over MSRP they paid. As for MSRP, I believe this to be RARE! If you were skilled and didn't come off as hard charging and found a lack of product knowledge dealer, you might have pulled this off in the beginning. Dealers are not stupid. The second guy that came in the door, did not get away with it in MOST cases. Yes, there are a really, really small handful of dealers that have strong convictions about how to treat there customer base and do not allow the lines of ethics to be crossed. But again this is a business that lives and dies on the economy. And up until recently, profit potential opportunities were rare. I don't completely blame dealers for getting ADM's but the amount of ADM can get absurd. I myself paid 1000.00 ADM. It was worth it to me as to secure my car right then and there. And to be the first to get one in my area. The second and third person in line has no idea when they are getting theres. It could be in the fall of 2016 in some cases. 1000 bucks was worth it in every way to me.
The days following that deal I made, I was more and more happy that I paid that extra . Reading the mass confusion and scams that were going on for weeks after the Oct.01 was painful to read. I have been waiting since 2004 when Ford implied the car was come to the states for this. 1000 bucks is nothing when sized up against that. It is all perspective, I just read in the paper that people are paying up to $10,000.00 for tickets to the new star was movie first showing. Really!!! I can wait two or three days and walk right in for $9.00 but 12 years for a RS stateside.... whats 1000 dollars against that.
Location is key. If you're in a crazy market, don't expect to pay MSRP
I work for a supplier went to the dealer we purchase all of our Ford vehicles and parts from. I wore my badge and used my work email for all communication, so maybe I got lucky. I did hear that they were selling them all for MSRP, so I doubt it.
Called my local dealer, they knew they were getting only one and said still no deposit on it yet, had my credit card out and they sent me MSRP pricing and done deal. Now waiting and hope for an early Spring.
I had 3 dealers willing to do MSRP and I was on their "list" They said they will call me when they found out allocation. The first one to call me back got my $$$$. I'm sure there are still RS's out there at MSRP now that deposits have been made.
The real test about ADM is going to be when the car actually arrives to dealers. As of right now nobody has actually PAID anything. My dealer keeps saying 4k ADM but I won't be paying that when the car comes. At most, they can take my $500 deposit as an ADM but that's all I'll let them take.
My dealership never got one real lead on the RS. There are a bunch of other Ford dealerships near by and one thats bigger and more performance oriented. I wonder what they got for allocation, customer interest and if they're asking ADM...
Thanks for everyones replies and suggestions, ill be shopping around for sure and im definitely willing to get it out of state. Probably should have checked this forum before doing the initial walk in but wasnt expecting to get ass raped so much by the dealer.
I work for a medium sized dealer in western mass. There's atleast 4 dealers nearby too so normally we all get cross shopped. I think we got one email on the RS and it wasn't very serious.

Ya I didn't know what the heck I was gonna do. I was thinking ST buy I really wanted AWD. When I heard about RS I made the owner promise me one before my lease ended cuz I was giving up lease renewal money to wait for it.
Too bad you don't have another, I'd come down to mass for it. Can't find one up here without ADM, and the dealer I want to work with isn't getting one at all. At this point I will have to wait and see or look for a 17.
Just asked a salesman at one of the other dealerships. He said they'd be getting them soon but it seemed like he didn't really know what was going on with them. Probably no allocation for the first year.
I see so many people on here saying they paid MSRP but in my experience that is not the norm. I've called dealerships all across the US and the best deal I could find was $2k ADM but it was 2000 miles away from me. The standard seems to be $5000. My local dealerships told me they would secure it for "no more than $5000" but they wanted to wait and see what they could charge when it finally arrives. I'm sure a lot of people with MSRP deals know someone at the dealership that hooked them up.
Not necessarily true. Most of people who got it for/under MSRP went early enough, before order banks opened and talked with their dealer. But I would say now, as time has passed and more dealer know about the car and its "limited production", they will try and charge ADM based on that. And people are paying, it means they can keep putting ADM on it.
I reserved at MSRP. Before Ford said the car was going to be made I started asking at the local dealers. This was probably back in January I think. Most knew nothing. There was one in Dearborn (I have not bought a car or even visited them) that was making a list for a possible allocation. I totally forgot about until he called me a week before the Oct 12th order frenzy.
